Kazakhstan. Improving Quality of HIV/AIDS services

The CAPACTY Project in cooperation with Project HOPE and Almaty City TB and AIDS departments continue implementation of the pilot project on strengthening interaction between AIDS and TB services. Within the frames of the pilot project on 2–4 July 2008 a three-day training on "HIV and TB” was conducted for TB specialists and infection disease doctors. The training module was developed based on WHO protocols on diagnostics, treatment, and prevention of HIV/TB dual infection. As a result of this training, 22 specialists from both TB and AIDS services were trained. In total, 72 specialists were trained in management of patients with dual TB/HIV infection in the course of 3 trainings.
