Kazakhstan. Celebration of 15th anniversary of USAID’s work in Kazakhstan.

On May 29, over 200 representatives of the Government of Kazakhstan, the donor community, local and international business, and civil society organizations gathered in Almaty to celebrate the 15th anniversary of USAID’s work in Kazakhstan. Guests perused an exhibition of USAID projects, and representatives of beneficiary organizations shared comments on their work with USAID towards achieving Kazakhstan’s strategic priorities. USAID assistance programs in Kazakhstan were launched in late 1992. In the field of Healthcare, USAID has facilitated the drafting of the National Health Care Reform Program, helped to reduce mortality from tuberculosis and other infectious diseases, introduced the International Life Birth Definition, promoted HIV/AIDS prevention, and improved maternal and child health. The CAPACITY Project together with PSI exhibited their printed and other materials, brochures, articles, poster presentations and monthly project and national bulletins.
